Ipoh Cargo Terminal Sdn Bhd (ICT) plays both a supplementary and complementary role to existing ports in the country as a one stop centre cargo carriage and acceptance. ICT operates daily dedicated train services provided by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) to and from Port Klang.
The trains move from Ipoh to Port Klang and from Port Klang back to Ipoh with a capacity up to 40 bcf of wagons or 80 TEUS of containers. Agreement was also established with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) for ICT to run additional trains services if the request exceeds the above capacity.
Beside the train service ICT also provides long haul by road package services to and from ICT to Port Klang. The service is to complement the rail service and to cater for the 'Just In Time' (JIT) customers requiring such services. The local haulage to and from CT to the various industrial zones within the Kinta Valley are being provided by about 7 container haulage operators based at Ipoh.
